  • Been training here since February 2022, all the trainers are friendly along with everyone who trains here. A variety of different levels here. This was my very first martial arts class and the foundation classes eased me into the sport which I now love.

  • Couldn’t ask for a better training environment from the reception, coaches and members. The MMA academy is part of my everyday life now and I wouldn’t change it for anything. Jason has also given me the opportunity to help coach members of the gym and the kids classes. Thanks to this gym I now get to travel and compete round the world with all my good mates. Would recommend this gym to anyone who is wanting to start training a martial art

  • Initially I wrote a 1 page review but had too much detail so couldn't be posted. Positives [ ] When I first started it was good. Reception, David, coaches & team mates welcomed me. [ ] Leaving for good after eventually recognising how frustrated due to lack of progress contributed by being left out, ignored, bullied by most coaches & members. Negatives [ ] Outspoken support for trump & mcgregor [ ] Mma coaches being unprofessional with females, short tempered and rude. Regardless of my vunerability. [ ] Being ridiculed & mocked by male muay thai coach who behaved aggressively while making nasty comments to individuals. [ ] Female muay thai coach picking on me for no reason at all and making up lies about "being too rough, loud breathing" even though there is CCTV and i did no such thing but forced to apologise. [ ] Lack of respect from bjj coaches who mocked my solo drills. Uploaded stories via instagram purposely mocking me. They seen me drilling and also being coached previously. [ ] Being reffered to as the cleaner and not given the proper time of day. Unlike those who have been there years and just about "earnt" some respect. [ ] Lack of opportunities with bjj or mma being an older female after over a year spent there. [ ] Unprofessional female coaches who swear and are passive aggressive. Bad attitude. Making drama. [ ] 2 females who coach and train bjj and muay thai, do not follow the rules of allowing others to tap out or have a break. And being advised by reception to distance myself from them. It took me a while but I have managed to rebuild my life after this traumatic experience. This is my experience & unfortunately can't go explain my points more. The people involved understand their behaviour and will deny of course. I never acknowldged the full story. But i deserve to share the truth. Especially if you have any anxiety and or are a female be warned, can turn nasty quick. I did initially cause burn out for myself as i was trying so hard to be seen and wanted to improve but still did not deserve the treatment i recieved. (I was told over doing classes causes people to leave but continued. Had a break and returned. Each time was worse than previous). Was told i was unable to clean and had to pay joining a fee (in the 100s) as well as monthly membership. I told them i was having a break and not once did they suggest freezing my payments. (They did this for someone else🤔). I Do NOT reccomend this toxic and demeaning enviroment. Think twice and do your research. There is more to life than tying your worth to a gym

  • My son comes to The MMA Academy regularly to cross train as we are based in another city. He absolutely loves it here, the staff and members are all so friendly, welcoming and so, so helpful. Whether it’s BJJ, MMA, Muay Thai or anything Mixed Martial Arts - The MMA Academy will have you covered. If we lived in Liverpool The MMA Academy would be my son’s first choice to join and he’s already counting down the days to come back.
