These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the MATR-BJJ website and services (“Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who We Are

MATR-BJJ (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an independent project providing information and tools for the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community in the UK. Contact: [email protected].

  • You must use the Service lawfully and for its intended purposes.
  • You are responsible for your activity and for ensuring any information you provide is accurate and up to date.
  • We may update, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice.

  • Keep your login details confidential and secure.
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of unauthorised use.
  • We may disable or terminate accounts that breach these Terms.

4. Content & Intellectual Property

  • The Service, including text, graphics, logos, and software, is owned by MATR-BJJ or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws.
  • You may view and share links to pages for personal, non-commercial use. Any other use (including copying, scraping, or republishing content) requires prior written permission.
  • Third-party names, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are referenced for identification only. No endorsement is implied.

5. Your Content

  • If you submit content (e.g., messages, listings, reviews), you retain ownership and grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute it to operate the Service.
  • Do not submit content that is unlawful, infringing, misleading, or harmful (e.g., spam, malware, hate speech).
  • We may remove content that violates these Terms or applicable law.

6. Prohibited Uses

  • Reverse engineering, automated scraping, or bulk harvesting of data.
  • Impersonation or misrepresentation of affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Interference with the security or availability of the Service (e.g., DDoS, vulnerability scanning without consent).
  • Any activity that violates applicable laws or third-party rights.

7. Information Accuracy

We aim to keep information current, but listings, schedules, and prices may change or be provided by third parties. We do not guarantee completeness, accuracy, or availability and recommend verifying details directly with gyms or organisers.

8. Third-Party Links & Services

The Service may link to third-party websites or integrate third-party tools (e.g., maps, analytics). We do not control or endorse third-party content or practices. Your use of those sites is at your own risk and subject to their terms and policies.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MATR-BJJ will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from or related to your use of the Service.

You agree to indemnify and hold MATR-BJJ harmless from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or your breach of these Terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms or applicable law. Upon termination, the rights granted to you will end, but the following sections survive: 4 (IP), 5 (Your Content licence as applicable), 9 (Disclaimers), 10 (Limitation of Liability), 11 (Indemnity), and 14 (Governing Law).

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll update the “Effective Date” above and, where required, notify you of significant changes. Continued use after changes means you accept the revised Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
